We recently spent a couple of days celebrating with one of our favorites, Aubree Anna! Not only has Aubree Anna been voted as Best Lounge Singer by D Magazine, she is now also recognized as one of Dallas’ Most Beautiful women. Aubree Anna is not only a talented singer, but accomplished artist, and has a heart for helping young girls. She’s clearly beautiful outside, with an inner beauty, even more stunning.

The holidays are just over a month from now and you’ve no doubt got several parties and events you’re hoping to get to. You want to make an entrance though, have people turn around and look, thinking “isn’t she stunning”!

Truth be told, it doesn’t have to be difficult, and you’re definitely more than worth it. Here are 15 helpful hints to help you look stunning this holiday season!

1. A good cleanser – having a good facial cleanser is one that cleans the skin without drying or stripping the skin of natural oils.
2. An effective exfoliator – Although many exfoliation products can easily be found on your local store shelves, most of these should only be used on the body, they are often too abrasive for the face. An effective facial exfoliator should have tiny beads and fruit acids that will remove dead skin cells without tearing or irritating sensitive skin.
3. Moisturizer – A good moisturizer is essential to preventing unwanted dry patches. Look for a concentrated, water based moisturizer, one that does not contain any mineral oil or petroleum related ingredients. In addition to moisturizer, make sure to always use sunscreen to protect your skin, it’s the easiest way to prevent premature aging. Our Healthy Skin TRIO provides cleansing, exfoliation and rehydration using the perfect ph balance for healthy skin.
4. A good foundation – having a foundation that covers well and is buildable and blend able is imperative to having a finished overall look. You want a foundation that provides different levels of coverage while still looking natural. Our Flawless Foundations were created for use by professionals, but can be used as an excellent every day foundation as well.
5. Concealer – great for when you find yourself looking a little tired, apply around the eyes. Also helpful for covering any blemishes or discolorations you may have.
6. Eyelash curler – Curling the lashes helps to open up the eye. Be sure to use a good quality lash curler and replace the pads often to prevent pulling out lashes or breaking them off near the base of the eye lash.
7. Mascara – Don’t settle until you find mascara that does not flake, run, or clump. The color black is hands-down, the best color to use for all skin tones.
8. Professional makeup brushes – Using professional makeup brushes makes a huge difference when applying makeup. Professional makeup brushes essentially do the work for you. Although they may seem more expensive, they are more than worth the price in what they provide in return. A good set up professional brushes can last years if properly cared for. Bonnie talks about how to keep your makeup brushes clean in one of our recent blogs.
9. A color palette of cosmetics complimentary to your skin tone – This can be difficult if you aren’t familiar with what colors work best with your skin tone, we would love to help you find the colors that bring out your specific features.
10. A complimentary lipstick – When we formulated the colors for our own line of lipsticks, we wanted to make sure that all of the colors were complimentary to most every skin tone. Our colors have blue undertones, this makes the teeth look whiter and will help to compliment and highlight the lips, rather than making them a distraction to your look.
11. Hair color – Whether you buy hair color from the store or go to the swankiest salon in town, be sure find a hair color that is complimentary to your skin tone. If you are unsure what color would look best, find a color that is similar to what you had when you were young. As we age our hair color darkens, often the color of hair you had as a child will be the most complimentary to your own skin. If you are in Dallas, please let us have one of our professional color and stylists suggest a look that is perfect for the shape of your face as well as your lifestyle.
12. Professional hair products – although there are some hair care products that are cheap and work well, it’s often the professional products that give you a look like you’ve just been to the salon.
13. Night serum – In your thirties and beyond, using a night serum will help repair and restore the skin while you sleep. Our Green Tea Bio Active Serum contains no fragrance or parabens and is gentle enough to use around the entire eye area.
14. Exercise – A good exercise program helps your blood circulate, oxygen intake increases, this excellent for healthy looking skin, not to mention your waistline. After our recent End of Summer 2011 Green Tea Bio Active Serum giveaway, we had several customers ask us “do I really need a serum”?

We have found out that extrinsic aging comes from the lack of care and from the sun. These are the two main culprits that affect the appearance of the skin. Clinical studies have proven this to be true, and if this proves to be true… think of the control one has about how much the skin will actually age!

A good serum provides intensive care to treat problem or fragile areas. Serum aims to penetrate deep into the layers of the skin to strengthen cells and deliver active ingredients to the skin. Moisturizers help with the top layer of your skin to retain moisture and prevent moisture from evaporating.

In addition, as we get older, our lack of ability to recover from skin damage is primarily caused by free radicals.

So what is one of the best antioxidant for skincare? Green Tea

Green Tea when combined with Vitamin E, found in our Green Tea Bio Active Serum, when applied to the skin provide the cells with a powerful does of antioxidants. These antioxidants help reverse free radical damage.

We recommend you apply serum at night. Always allow time for your serum to be well absorbed into the skin. Using a moisturizer with a serum is not always necessary, but if your skin is dry and needs more hydration, apply a rehydrating moisturizer on top of your serum.

As we age, our skin requires a little more time and effort to look youthful. Skin discolorations become more prominent, pigment changes more common and the eyes begin to look more tired. The youthful glow tends to fade.

It’s not fun, but it happens to all of us.

Applying foundation with a brush helps to create a flawless finish, and a more even skin tone. It’s also faster and more sanitary. A sponge tends to soak up a lot of product and can harbor bacteria even after the first use. Our favorite use for sponges is final blending and touch-ups only.

To apply foundation for a flawless look, dispense a pea size amount of Flawless Foundation on your non-working hand. Using our SHADE IT Professional Makeup Brush (shown), dab a tiny amount of foundation onto the tip of the brush. Begin applying foundation around the entire eye, covering the eyelid, in a circular motion. Be sure to go in the reverse direction. Repeat on the opposite eye. Again, apply a small amount of foundation to the tip of the brush and go down the cheek working side to side, applying evenly down the cheeks, paying special attention to cover any discolorations or blemishes. Apply a tiny amount of foundation and apply on the forehead, over the nose and on the chin. Use the brush to blend evenly. If more coverage is needed, use a small amount and blend well with the brush. Our foundation is buildable, allowing you to adjust to your desired level of coverage.

We recommend washing your brush often, with more frequency if breakouts are an issue for you.
